U People Episode#16: “Clean Cups, Dives and Gold Stars

February 19, 2008

Hanifah and Olive travel 2 hours to Jersey to visit friend and playwright Zina Camblin as her new play “And Her Hair Went With Her” debuted at the New Jersey Rep. Later that night they sparked a lively conversation about the rarely sighted Black Obsessive Compulsives, dyke dives and gold star lesbians. Also we have a U People story that involves one woman’s struggle with fried chicken.

Note: We had some technical glitches this episode so the picture may be a bit fuzzy, but we still manage to come with the usual good stuff. check us out at www.iloveupeople.com

Cuddling 101: How To Avoid Trapped Arm Whilst Cuddling In Bed

February 4, 2008

This is a video I saw on VideoJug.com that is essentially a 101 on cuddling. Though this is a practice that we all know and cherish, at times there can be mishaps in this long standing ritual, like when your arm gets caught under your lover’s body and in the middle of the night your awakened by a surge of pain. This instructional video will help you maneuver your way out of such situations while maintaining peace in the bed.

U People disclaimer: This instructional video uses a heterosexual couple as model so when they refer to the fleshy bits you know what to replace it with. If you are heterosexual then please follow as instructed. :D Enjoy.

And In This Corner! Lacewell vs. Steinem

February 2, 2008

The following is a four part debate with Melissa Harris Lacewell and Gloria Steinem on Democracy Now. Ms. Steinem’s recent op-ed piece in the New York Times,”Women Are Never Front-Runners”, was the catalyst. Princeton Professor, Melissa Harris Lacewell gives a straight-no-chaser reaction to the op-ed article and dishes one of the loudest back hand blows heard around the world. This is hands down one of the best debates around race and gender in politics and where they intersect. This debate is a direct clash between 2nd and 3rd wave feminism; and all discussed within the context of the most thrilling Presidential race this country has ever seen. Please read the op-ed piece and watch all 4 parts and we look forward to your comments.
