  2. Yes, congratulation on being accepted in toronto film festival.

Got upeople experience I remember. My son was two. I’d just moved so didn’t have cable hook up. roommate used to watch the best of Eddie Murphy on Saturday Night Live. It was this one skit where he was making fun of Bob Marley and his honesty in his music. He was singing “Kill the white people but buy my records first.” I got the pun of it but my little two year old son didn’t. So one day I’m shopping in the grocery store with my two year old who is singing, but I’m not paying attention to him. Next thing I know a lot of white people are looking at me very scornfully and I’m trying to figure out what is going on. Then my brain zeros in on what my son is saying. He is singing the Eddie Murphy song but leaving out the last part. So he is walking through the isles singing “Kill the white people…ey oh…Kill the white people.” Oh my gosh I was sooooo embarrassed. I did the dramatic thing to show my white brothers and sistahs that this wasn’t a behavior I condoned and could not possibly have contributed to. I grabbed is arm lightly but made to look firm and said “don’t you say things like that. What is your babysitter filling your head with.” LOL ladies ladies ladies it took everything in me not to crack up and fall out on the floor laughing. Yes children will get you in some serious mess. And from Athens, GA that’s my upeople moment.

    Love the show.

  6. “There is another example of the beauty that women can become” … awesome quote … and that’s EXACTLY what U People gives over and over again.

  8. Loved this episode. Experienced a more serious side of Olive. Loved the topic of this one and enjoyed the dialogue between Olive and Kim Knox. And yes we all saw Olive smile about where she laid her head!

  9. Oh and sometimes it seems like(the past few episodes) that Gloria is having a U people moment inside of the U people experience. What’s that all about? For it example,”…it is probably more common for you to experience that situation, but for me…” Does that make it justified? How bizarre!

  10. I am still trying to figure out which episode I love the best! U people gets better and better. This was an awesome episode. Thank you for your documentation of 21st century, liberated, thirty something, intellectual women of color and congratulations on your success.
