Yes Sis! THAT’s what African womyn LOOK Like!! Fierce! & Fine! ~ Also, many thank yous from my heart to U both for blessing our creative space and sharing the healing in and from Denver. You coulda made 3 feature UPeople docs just on the reality of living “out” in all its manifestations from here. Indeed, “the culture cures.” BigUps to the filmmakers! ~ Ashara

frankly being a child from the 70’s and growing up with blues r&b jazz and funk in my household and then later true hip hop, seeing the transition in music i take that ebony title to mean the industry is heralding in a lot of music that has basically lost its soul. we’ve become the salt that has lost its savor. point in case, Me’shell Ndegeocello’s music drew me to her and open up corridors and emotions in me you could not imagine and that is because of the soul that was in it that touched the soul of me the funk the…just every thing about it. but now she’s adopted this trick-hop sound and its empty. i went to two of her concerts in the ATL this year and last and along with this new bright light gremlin thing she’s got going on i was so unfulfilled. So i think music is taking a critical change towards the worse for Nubian people and its really really disparaging to watch the soul being sucked out of it by this trendy ish that has poison the airwaves

Olive you look stunning. your short hair really brings out your beatiful eyes and graceful neck. I have about two inches or so of hair myself so i am biased. What a great u people story. I have found myself in that situation many a time. I find as I get older i am able to eal with it more apropriately depending on the
    situation. another great episode.

    keep up the good work

OK, so I was toying around with the idea of going natural. I know that shaving the head is NOT an option for me because not everyone can pull that off. (Olive, you were beautiful before, but girrrrl!!! WOW)I love how you put the whole look together. The clothes and the make up.. Fierce! I have been a prisoner of the relaxer for far too long. I want to be set free! BTW, am I the only on the that finds it odd that a relaxer would be called African Pride? just a thought…

I’m loving the short hair on you, Olive! You wear it well. Short hair is liberating. I’ve enjoyed my wash ‘n wear look for 9 years, with a couple of growth spurts in between.

My heart goes out to Ru Johnson. I’ve been the victim of an occasional ignorant remark by a few clueless whites and Jews. Unfortunately, I thought about all the things I should’ve said after the fact. The initial shock of an ignorant comment tends to override my ability to react with a quick come-back line. Words hurt a lot, and now, twenty years later, I still remember some of the things bosses said to me when I used to work in NYC/Corporate America. Hopefully, you’ll stun the hell out of the next person that says something out of line to you. Be blessed ~ Evelyn
