ABOUT THE FILM
Recently winning the Jury Award at the IMAGE+NATION LGBT Film Festival in Canada and its national debut on LOGO this past February, U People is an incidental documentary that was meant to be. The first rockumentary of its kind brings you behind the scenes of a not so typical music video shoot for out artist Hanifah Walidah. U People was made from the 20 hours of downtime footage consisting of an entire cast and crew of 30 gay, straight women and trans folks of color.  What the camera caught will introduce a hilarious, candid and very human voice into the discussion of gender, race and humanity.

After screening at the Oakland LGBT Film Festival in 2008 directors Hanifah Walidah and Olive Demetrius want to bring it back to Oakland. Join the directors and one amazing screening of U People at the East Side Arts Alliance. Talkback with the directos to follow!
