WHAT IS A U PEOPLE STORY?
Inspired by the film, in the Fall of 2007, www.iloveupeople.com U People Stories are stories from regular everyday people, gay, straight, black, white and/or with varied beliefs who have had been made to feel like the “other”. These stories are humorous, moving and timeless. Individually, the stories are a testament of how discrimination and the emotions that result can connect, effect and change us all.
We invite you to record and upload your own stories to add to the U People Story Archive.
Recording your story is so simple.
Just record yourself whether via your phone, your computer or on a film set, it doesn’t matter as long as you capture it we can reach it. Then upload the video to the one of the usual suspects (You Tube, Vimeo, Goodle Video, Seesmic) . Email us the URL and your email contact info at usa@iloveupeople.com. We’ll review and post your video if it meets our respect criteria listed below.
Before you begin just remember and respect 3 things:
1. Respect the beauty of a story. Tell a story. This is not the place to rant or aimlessly vent about vague and broad concepts of discrimination. This is about connecting to and through others with stories. A beginning, middle and end. Keep it under 5 minutes.
2. Please respect others privacy and humanity. Refrain from using names in your story. Blatantly profane, racist, homophobic, anti-semitic, or truly mean spirited uploads will be ignored.
3. Respect yourself afterward by letting us know how telling it made you feel.
